Discussing the new briefs with Marty

Before we finish for the Christmas break Marty and I both decided it would be great to get a head start on planning for the next brief for our clothing company OTTO. We started by listing all the things we could do with it, all the things we want to do with it and all the things that need to be done with it.

This first sheet was a quick set of lists I made myself of all the ideas I had for the brief. I though of deliverables mostly and categorised them to set them apart. I also thought of which deliverables would come under either Marty's or my own responsibilities within the brief.

This second sheet was a a brainstorm of more ideas. The deliverables and methods of distribution are pretty much the same as the first sheet but I've listed what we already have and what we need as a business and as a brief.

What we already have:

   - logo
   - first range of designs
   - look book for the range
   - business cards
   - social directory cards
   - twitter account
   - Facebook page
   - Big Cartel account

What we need:

   - exposure
   - more followers
   - method of distribution
   - promotion
   - better quality fabrics
   - broader range of garments
   - business plan
   - price plan
   - Instagram
   - studio photo shoot
   - to start selling clothes

The next two sheets were written by Marty and I together.

This sheet is a list of our own wants and needs from the business and from the briefs that we'll be working on. We also wrote down a few things we don't want and the start of a plan of action. This will probably change somewhat over the next few weeks.

Wants:

   - exposure and promotion of the label
   - packaging
   - message Urban Outfitters and Republic
   - look into getting clothes made for us
   - events to house the sales of the clothing and to promote the label
   - network more beyond college
   - expand the branding across more deliverables
   - develop the clothing

Don't wants:

   - to go into women's fashion yet
   - to go into mass production

Needs:

   - to launch the Twitter account via Facebook and generate a following
   - complete the Big Cartel account and link it to the Facebook page
   - develop appropriate/on brand packaging for distribution
   - create a catalogue of positives of the artwork for future re prints
   - research more into current trends and upcoming ones to inform the new range of clothes
   - refine business cards
   - refine look book (collection #1 idea - jack daniels/levi reference)
   - experiment with colours and printing methods onto the clothes
   - buy better quality of clothing to print onto
